What does acupuncture treatment feel like?

Generally speaking, there is very little pain associated with acupuncture treatment. People often assume the needles will be similar to hypodermic needles but acupuncture needles are completely sterile and are made of solid stainless steel in various lengths and gauges of width. They are fine and flexible and not much thicker than a hair.When patients receive an acupuncture treatment they often report having a variety of sensations. Some people describe feeling a dull ache, a tingling or pulsating sensation or experience nothing at all. There are other people who state that they feel a small pinch when the needle is inserted but the sensation dissipates quickly.
