Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is a chronic, inflammatory condition that can cause pain, stiffness, progressive joint destruction and deformity, reducing physical function, quality of life and life expectancy. Approximately, 1% of the UK population have RA.

It is an autoimmune disease, which means that the immune system mistakenly begins to attack healthy tissue.
